I had been asked this question in homework.

I'm obligated to ask this question of YACC  Parser Generator topic in section Context Free Grammars and Languages of Automata Theory

Correct answer is (c) Yet Another Compiler Compiler

To explain I would say: YACC stands for ‘Yet another compiler compiler’ and it was developed by Stephen Johnson in B programming language later translated to C.
