The question was posed to me during an online interview.

My question is taken from Carburettors in portion Fuel Supply System of Automobile Engineering

The explanation is: The simple carburetor supplies the rich mixture during accelerating. During acceleration, the engine requires more amount of fuel to get the high speed of the vehicle due to which there is a requirement of the rich mixture.
