Which are the two stresses that act inside crankshaft?

(a) Shear and bending stress

(b) Compressive and bending stress

The two main stresses that act inside a crankshaft are shear stress and bending stress. The crankshaft undergoes both torsional (shear) stress due to the rotational forces and bending stress due to the cyclic loading from the combustion process.
