Which of the following lead to the bulged case of a battery?

(a) Loss of water

(b) Internal short-circuiting

(c) Sulphation

(d) Overcharging

I had been asked this question in an interview for job.

My question is from Battery Troubles in portion Storage Batteries of Automotive Engine Design

Right choice is (d) Overcharging

The best I can explain: The main trouble a faces is bulged case which because of overcharging of the battery to avoid overcharging the regulated voltage must be reduced. And the clamps should not be too tight and the temperature of the battery should be maintained.
