In outboard type, the pinion moves which side to the starting motor?

(a) Up

(b) Towards

(c) Away

(d) Downward

I had been asked this question by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

My question is based upon Starting System in division Starting System of Automotive Engine Design

The correct option is (c) Away

The best I can explain: Inboard and outboard are the two types of Bendix drives. In the outboard type pinion moves away from the starting motor to engage the flywheel whereas in the inboard type it moves towards the starting motor.
