Which of the following is not a major part of the crankshaft?

(a) Main journal

(b) Crank pins

(c) Water pump

(d) Crank webs

This question was addressed to me during an interview for a job.

My doubt is from Engine Components in portion Basic Engine Components of Automotive Engine Design

The correct choice is (c) Water pump

To explain: The main components of a crankshaft are the main journal, crankpins, crank webs, counterweights, and oil holes. Whereas the water pump has no role in the crankshaft construction. The main journal is supported in the main bearing in the crankcase.
