The doubt is from Silver-Silver Chloride Electrodes in chapter Bioelectric Signal and Electrodes of Biomedical Instrumentation

Correct answer is (a) increases the impedance

Easiest explanation: Studies have shown that the impedance of the electrode was different layers of chloride. There is an optimum chloriding, which gives the lowest impedance.  Above and below that value the impedance is high.
