Which of the following materials are not suited for cold welding?

(a) Brass

(b) Steel

I had been asked this question in exam.

My doubt is from Types of Welding topic in section Welding and Related Processes of Casting-Forming-Welding II

Right option is (b) Steel

Easiest explanation: Cold welding process is not very suitable for alloys like steel, the reason being, cold welding cannot take place excellently in ferrous materials. Steel contains high amount of iron, hence it cannot be cold welded.
