When exposed to fire, concrete has very little strength left after:

(a) 500^oC

(b) 300^oC

(c) 200^oC

(d) 600^oC

This question was addressed to me during an interview.

My doubt is from Building Services topic in section Building Construction of Basic Civil Engineering

The correct answer is (d) 600^oC

Explanation: Concrete decomposes when exposed to heat. Water evaporates, sand, gravel become molten lava like. Up to 200^oC, no changes are noticed. At about 600^oC, significant lossoccurs. At 800-1000oC, it completely gives in.
