I got this question by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

My question comes from Production Kinetics in Cell Culture in portion Homogenous Reactions of Bioprocess Engineering

The correct answer is (b) Non-growth associated

The explanation: ATP is also required for other activities called maintenance.

 – cell motility

 – turnover of cellular components

 – adjustment of membrane potentials and internal pH

These are non-growth associated mechanisms.
