The correct choice is (b) False

Explanation: A sound wave is a longitudinal wave. Sound is transmitted in the form of these longitudinal waves which are a series of compressions and rarefactions created in the medium through which the sound propagates. The velocity of the sound depends on the medium through which it travels. Sound travels faster in solids than in gases.
