In a DC machine, rectification provided with commutator is ___________

This question was posed to me in an internship interview.

My question is based upon Brushes and Commutator Assembly topic in portion DC Machines of DC Machines

The correct choice is (b) Full wave rectification

Explanation: In any electromagnetic machine the voltage generated is always alternating one as per Faraday’s law. For a DC machine the output must be unidirectional. This is carried out by a commutator. Hence, commutator provides full wave rectification.
