This question was addressed to me by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

Right answer is (a) low

Best explanation: Starting resistance of a DC shunt motor and DC compound motor is low. Well, that’s the reason why we use starters in a DC motors, in order to limit the armature current flowing through the armature and to protect machine circuitry.
