My question is based upon The Mesh-Current Method and Dependent Sources and Some Special Cases in section Techniques of Circuit Analysis of Electric Circuits

The correct option is (a) 12

The best explanation: In Mesh-Current method, b-(n-1) equations are required to describe the circuit. b=the number of branches and n= the number of essential nodes.
