A 50 Hz, 4poles, a single phase induction motor is rotating in the clockwise direction at a speed of 1425 rpm. The slip of motor in the direction of rotation & opposite direction of the motor will be respectively.

(b) 0.04, 1.96

(c) 0.05, 1.95

The correct answer is (c) 0.05, 1.95

To explain I would say: Synchronous speed, Ns=120×50÷4=1500 rpm. Given a number of poles = 4. Supply frequency is 50 Hz. Rotor speed is 1425 rpm. S=Ns-Nr÷Ns=1500-1425÷1500=.05. Sb=2-s=1.95.
