I have been asked this question in semester exam.

My question comes from Speed Control of Shunt or Separately Excited Motors topic in portion Speed Control of Direct Current Motors & Induction Motors of Electric Drives

The correct answer is (a) 1.086

To explain I would say: Mark to space is Ton÷Toff. It is the ratio of time for which the system is active and the time for which is inactive. M = Ton÷Toff=26.3÷24.2=1.086.
