What is the formula for finding out the width of the commutator of the DC machines?

(a) width of the commutator = 3.14*(Diameter of the commutator)

(b) width of the commutator = 3.14*(Diameter of the commutator)*(Number of armature coils)

(c) width of the commutator = 3.14*(Diameter of the commutator) / (Number of armature coils)

(d) width of the commutator = Number of armature coils / 3.14*(Diameter of the commutator)

The question was posed to me in quiz.

My question is taken from Design of Commutator and Brushes topic in chapter Thermal Design Aspects of Electrical Machines & D.C of Design of Electrical Machines

Correct answer is (c) width of the commutator = 3.14*(Diameter of the commutator) / (Number of armature coils)

The best explanation: First by the design of the armature, the number of armature coils is found out. Then the diameter of the commutator is measured.
