How many coils are present in the stator windings?

This question was posed to me by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

The correct answer is (d) 3 or more

The best I can explain: The stator windings of single phase induction motors are concentric type. There are usually 3 or more coils per pole each having same or different number of turns.
