I had been asked this question in exam.

My doubt stems from Rotating Amplifiers in division DC Generators of Electrical Machines

Correct answer is (a) DC shunt generator > level compound generator > Differential compound generator

The best I can explain: Dc shunt motor is almost constant speed generator and thus its voltage regulation is very good than all and differential compound generator has most poor v.r.
