Backpressure technique can be applied only to _______

(a) Congestion networks

(b) Closed circuit networks

(d) Virtual circuit networks

This question was addressed to me by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My doubt stems from Congestion Control in chapter Frame Relay of Computer Network

Right option is (d) Virtual circuit networks

The best I can explain: In Virtual circuit networks, each node knows the upstream node from which a flow data is coming. So, it makes possible for the congested node to track the source of the congestion and then inform that node to reduce the flow to remove congestion.
