For a n-channel FET, what is the condition of Vgs for which the current becomes zero?

(a) 0

(b) 100V

(c) Vp

(d) Infinite

The question was posed to me in an international level competition.

Right answer is (c) Vp

To explain: ID=IDSS (1-Vgs/Vp)^2

         When ID=0, (1-Vgs/Vp)^2=0

         1=Vgs/Vp  => Vgs=Vp.
