I had been asked this question in an interview for job.

This is a very interesting question from Operating Systems in chapter Real Time Operating systems of Embedded Systems

Correct answer is (a) memory

To explain I would say: The application program has to complete and the memory becomes a limiting factor, which can be solved by using program overlays.
