What is a sediment of suspended matter?

(a) Insoluble particles of soil and other solids

(b) Soluble particles of soil and other solids

(c) Insoluble particles of water

(d) Soluble particles of water

This question was posed to me by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

The question is from Causes of Water Pollution in section Environmental Pollution of Energy Management

The correct answer is (a) Insoluble particles of soil and other solids

For explanation I would say: Sediment of suspended matter is insoluble particles of soil and other solids that become suspended in water. When the velocity of water in streams and rivers decreases, the suspended particles settle down at the bottom as sediments.
