What is Critical Micelle Concentration?

(a) The maximum amount of concentration that is required for the formation of micelle

(b) The minimum amount of concentration that is required for the formation of micelle

(c) The maximum amount of concentration that is not required for the formation of micelle

I had been asked this question during an internship interview.

This is a very interesting question from Micelles in chapter Materials and their Properties of Engineering Chemistry I

Correct option is (b) The minimum amount of concentration that is required for the formation of micelle

The best I can explain: The minimum amount of concentration that is required for the formation of the micelle is termed as Critical Micelle Concentration (CMC). It is defined as the concentration of surfactants above which micelles form and all additional surfactants added to the system go to micelles.
