Which type of process is used for the refining of petroleum?

(a) Destructive distillation

(b) Zone distillation

(c) Fractional distillation

(d) Steam distillation

This question was addressed to me in exam.

My question is taken from Petroleum in chapter Fuels and Combustion of Engineering Chemistry II

Right choice is (c) Fractional distillation

For explanation I would say: The crude obtained by the process of mining consist of many impurities of solid, liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons. By the process of fractional distillation the crude oil is separated on the basis of the impurity percentile.
