What is the function of coagulant?

(a) It helps in the formation of fine precipitate

(b) It helps in the formation of coarse precipitate

(c) It helps in increasing the solubility

(d) It helps in increasing the boiling point

This question was addressed to me in exam.

My query is from Lime Soda Process in section Water and its Treatment of Engineering Chemistry II

The correct choice is (b) It helps in the formation of coarse precipitate

For explanation: Coagulants helps in the formation of coarse precipitate. C?oagulation is a process of addition of coagulant to destabilize a stabilized charged particle.
