What will happen if two literals are identical?

(b) Added as three

(c) Reduced to one

I have been asked this question in homework.

I want to ask this question from Resolution in division Logical Agents of Artificial Intelligence

Right option is (c) Reduced to one

For explanation I would say: Propositional factoring reduces two literals to one if they are identical.
