What should be the area and depth respectively, for an igneous body to be called a batholith?

(a) 100 square km and depth not traceable

(b) 10 square km and depth up to 100km

(c) Not traceable and depth 10 km

(d) 50 km and depth 10 km

This question was posed to me by my college director while I was bunking the class.

This intriguing question originated from Forms of Igneous Rocks in section The Study of Rocks of Engineering Geology

Right choice is (a) 100 square km and depth not traceable

To elaborate: The dimensions of batholiths vary considerably but it is generally agreed that to qualify as a batholith the igneous mass should be greater than 100 square kilometres in area and its depth should not be traceable.
