Which of the following is an example of heterochain polymers?

(a) Polyamide

(b) Polycarbonate

(c) Polyethylene

(d) Polyacrylonitrile

The question was asked by my college director while I was bunking the class.

Correct answer is (b) Polycarbonate

To explain I would say: Heterochain polymers are those which contain elements other than carbon in their molecular chain. A few examples of heterochain polymers are acetal, polycarbonate, and polyethylene terephthalate. Polycarbonates have good ductility, dimensional stability, and are transparent.
