The resultant force acting, of the uniformly distributed loading, is dependent on:

(a) Area

(b) Vertical distance

(c) Length of the supports

(d) The distance of the supports between them

This question was addressed to me during a job interview.

Enquiry is from Reduction of a Simple Distributed Loading in division Force System Resultants of Engineering Mechanics

The correct answer is (a) Area

For explanation I would say: The resultant force acting, of the uniformly distributed loading, is dependent on the area that the distribution is covering. The more the area the more is the force. That is the more is the tension created over the structure on which loading is kept. Hence the answer.
