All the vector quantities in the solving of the unknown in the belt force system obey _____________

(a) Parallelogram law of addition

(b) Parallelogram law of multiplication

The question was posed to me during an interview for a job.

My doubt stems from Frictional Forces on Flat Belts topic in division Friction of Engineering Mechanics

The correct answer is (a) Parallelogram law of addition

To explain I would say: All the vectors quantities obey parallelogram law of addition. Two vectors A and B (can be called as component vectors) are added to form a resultant vector. R = A+B.
