How many trial lines are marked firstly when caliper principle is used to mark a circular disc into 90^o divisions?

The question was asked by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My doubt is from Caliper Principle in section Angular Measurement and Circular Division of Engineering Metrology

Right answer is (d) 2

Explanation: Firstly two trial lines namely ‘1’ and ‘2’ are marked approximately at 180 degree and the two microscopes A and B are set against these marks. This practice is to divide a circle into two equal halves.
