What is used in solid state cameras?

(a) Image sensor IC

(b) CMOS image sensors

(c) Charge coupled device (CCD) image sensors

This question was posed to me by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

This is a very interesting question from Principle of Working in chapter Machine Vision Systems of Engineering Metrology

Correct choice is (c) Charge coupled device (CCD) image sensors

To elaborate: Solid state cameras are generally used in machine vision systems. These uses charge injected device (CID) or charge coupled device (CCD) image sensors. They contain linear or matrix array of small, accurately spaced photo-sensitive elements fabricated on silicon chips using integrated circuit technology.
