I had been asked this question during an internship interview.

This intriguing question comes from Friction and Forces in division Laws of Motion of Engineering Physics I

Right answer is (b) 48kg f

For explanation I would say: Weight of the scooter = 120kg f

μ = 0.4

f = μ×weight of the scooter = 0.4×120 = 48kg f.
