I had been asked this question during an interview for a job.

This intriguing question originated from Gravitational Potential Field in division Mechanical Properties of Solids of Engineering Physics I

Correct option is (d) Centre of acceleration

The best I can explain: The torque due to gravity on a body acts as its entire mass were concentrated at its centre of mass. That is why the centre of mass of a body is often called its centre of gravity.
