A thin prism P1 having angle 4° and refractive index 1.54 is combined with another thin prism P2 of refractive index 1.72 for producing dispersion without deviation. The angle of P2 is?

(a) 4°

(b) 5.33°

(c) 3°

(d) 2.6°

The correct answer is (c) 3°

The best explanation: Since, (µ1 – 1)A1 = (µ2 – 1)A2

(1.54 – 1)*4° = (1.72 – 1)*A2

0.54*4° = 0.72*A2

therefore,     A2 = 2.16 / 0.72 = 3°.
