Which of the following may not be conserved in a photon-particle collision?

I have been asked this question during an interview.

The doubt is from Mechanism of Light Emission topic in section Optics of Engineering Physics II

Correct option is (c) Number of photons

To explain I would say: In a photon-particle collision, total energy and the total momentum are conserved. However, the number of photons may vary. Some photons may get absorbed or new photons may be created. Thus, the number of photons may not be conserved in a collision.
