Which of the following is the expression for the continuity equation?

(a) ρ + J = 0

(b) dρ/dt + div.J = 0

(c) dρ/dt + J = 0

(d) ρ + div J = 0

I got this question by my college director while I was bunking the class.

My query is from Maxwell’s Equations in section Electrodynamics of Engineering Physics II

Right choice is (b) dρ/dt + div.J = 0

To explain: Continuity equation shows that the sum of the conduction current and the displacement current has the property of continuity.
