The bits that affect the result of arithmetic operations like ADD, SUB, MUL, DIV are

(a) condition code bits

(b) rounding control bits

(c) masking bits

(d) precision control bits

This question was addressed to me at a job interview.

My doubt stems from 80287 Math Coprocessor -2 in section 80286-80287-A Microprocessor with Memory Management and Protection of Microprocessor

Right option is (d) precision control bits

For explanation I would say: The precision control bits affect ADD, SUB, MUL, DIV and SQRT results.
