A diode is said to be forward biased when the

(a) cathode is positive with respect to the anode

(b) anode is positive with respect to the cathode

(c) anode is negative with respect to the anode

(d) both cathode & anode are positive

The question was asked by my college director while I was bunking the class.

This is a very interesting question from Power Diodes-1 in chapter Diodes of Power Electronics

Right choice is (b) anode is positive with respect to the cathode

For explanation I would say: A is positive w.r.t the K when the device is forward biased.
