What will be the plain text corresponding to cipher text “RVUVMF” if trithemius cipher is used?

(b) RUSSIA

(c) RANGER

(d) FRIEND

I got this question by my college director while I was bunking the class.

My question is taken from Cryptography in chapter Cryptography of Data Structures & Algorithms II

Correct answer is (b) RUSSIA

Easiest explanation - Trithemius cipher is a type of poly alphabetic substitution which uses tabula recta for making substitutions in the plain text. Using the table and using the key as ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ we find the plain text to be “RUSSIA”.
