Which of the following may not be a strong electrolyte?

(a) hydrochloric acid

(b) sulfuric acid

(c) nitric acid

(d) ammonia

This question was addressed to me by my college director while I was bunking the class.

I'd like to ask this question from Ionic Equilibrium in Solution in chapter Equilibrium of Chemistry – Class 11

Right answer is (d) ammonia

The explanation: Electrolytes which dissociate almost completely into constituent ions in aqueous solutions are known as strong electrolytes. Therefore ammonia is not a strong electrolyte because it can’t dissociate completely.
