What happens in the purifying chamber in contact process?

(a) The compounds are washed with nitrogen

(b) Dust particles are removed

(c) A spray of HCl is used for drying gasses

(d) The compounds are heated

This question was posed to me by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

Right choice is (b) Dust particles are removed

For explanation I would say: In the purifying unit the dust particles are removed by blowing steam and the soluble impurities are removed by washing the gases with water. A spray of conc. Sulphuric acid is used for drying gasses.
