Identify the amino acid with the formula HOOC-CH2-CH2-CH(NH2)-COOH.

The correct option is (a) Glutamic acid

For explanation: Glutamic acid is an amino substituted dicarboxylic acid which can be synthesized by the body. Its IUPAC name is 2-aminopentanedioic acid. Since it has two COOH groups (one more than the number of NH2 groups), it is acidic in nature.
