What are peptones?

I have been asked this question by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My doubt is from Absorption of Digested Products topic in portion Digestion and Absorption of Biology – Class 11

Correct option is (a) Partially hydrolysed proteins

For explanation: Peptones are partially hydrolysed proteins. Proteins, proteoses and peptones in the chyme after reaching the small intestine are acted upon by the proteolytic enzymes of the pancreatic juice.
