Correct choice is (c) Hydrochloric acid

Best explanation: The proenzyme pepsinogen on exposure to hydrochloric acid gets converted into the active enzyme pepsin which is the proteolytic enzyme of the stomach. Pepsin converts proteins into proteoses and peptones.
