Which of these is not a function of gonadotropins in females?

(a) Induction of ovulation

(b) Maintenance of corpus luteum

(c) Breakdown of corpus luteum

(d) Development of ovarian follicles

The question was posed to me by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My question is from Chemical Control and Coordination in section Chemical Control and Coordination of Biology – Class 11

The correct option is (c) Breakdown of corpus luteum

To explain I would say: The gonadotropins are luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). In females, they are responsible for inducing ovulation, maintaining the corpus luteum and developing ovarian follicles.
