Which of these hormones is released by the pars nervosa?

(a) Luteinizing hormone

(b) Prolactin

(c) Oxytocin

(d) Follicle stimulating hormone

The question was posed to me in an interview for job.

My question is taken from Chemical Control and Coordination in portion Chemical Control and Coordination of Biology – Class 11

Correct choice is (c) Oxytocin

For explanation I would say: The pars nervosa is also known as the posterior pituitary gland or the neurohypophysis. It secretes oxytocin and vasopressin or anti diuretic hormone. The rest are secreted by the anterior pituitary gland.
