What stage is the oocyte released from the ovary?

(a) Primary oocyte

(b) Secondary oocyte

(c) Tertiary oocyte

(d) Ovum

This question was posed to me by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

Right option is (b) Secondary oocyte

The explanation is: Primary oocyte is formed during fetal development. The secondary oocyte is formed during puberty and is present in the ovary until it is released after the rupture of the Graafian follicle that holds it. Ovum is formed in the fallopian tube.
