The explanation: Presently, in India, about 80% of the chicken are reared from three exotic breeds-Rhode Island Red, White leghorn (for eggs) and Plymouth Rock (for broilers). Crosses have been made between exotic and indigenous breeds in order to increase immunity against diseases.
